Abigail Biery Promoted to GME Senior Department Manager

The Office of Education is pleased to announce the promotion of Abigail Biery to GME senior department manager, effective January 3, 2022. Abigail manages three fellowship programs—Surgical Critical Care, Neurologic Critical Care, and Anesthesiology Critical Care—as well as the medical student elective program and she runs the Journal Club and Morbidity and Mortality conferences. She joined the Department as a GME department manager in March 2019.

“At the end of last year, Abigail was the lynchpin, who worked under a very tight deadline to assemble our large ACGME accreditation application for the Neurologic Critical Care training program,” said Lori Shutter, MD, who is the vice chair for Education and program director for the Neurologic Critical Care training program. “She has been very successful and effective in managing three fellowship programs as well as facilitating the development of four new fellowship electives.”

Dr. Shutter added that Abigail is a member of the Department’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee for which she is a member of the Training subcommittee. Abigail has also helped to create the fellowship social media group and she has been a tireless advocate for resources needed by fellows to be successful with hybrid lectures, examinations, and interviews.
