Melinda Hamilton, MD, MS, Elected Medical Staff President

Associate professor Melinda Hamilton, MD, MS, was elected medical staff president of UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh for a two-year term beginning in 2023. Dr. Hamilton will serve the next two years as president-elect prior to taking office. 

“I am honored to have been elected and look forward to supporting and promoting the well-being of the medical staff and the entire organization,” said Dr. Hamilton.

This new role as medical staff president adds to Dr. Hamilton’s many leadership roles including director of the Pediatric Critical Care Medicine fellowship program and director of pediatric simulation at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and the Peter M. Winter Institute for Simulation, Education, and Research. She is also co-chair of the Professional Development Subcommittee of the UPMC Graduate Medical Education Committee.

Dr. Hamilton was recently selected as a fellow in the class of 2022 in the Hedwig van Amerigen Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine ® (ELAM) program. She is an associate professor of Critical Care Medicine and Pediatrics with academic interests centered on pediatric simulation, communications skills for pediatric trainees, faculty and trainee development, and graduate medical education.
