Murine Models of Prehospital Care

Funded by the Surgical Infection Society, this project will provide essential preliminary data for the design of a randomized trial of prehospital sepsis treatment. We will to test “very early” goal directed resuscitation in a novel murine model of septic shock, using physiologic and behavioral changes measured with embedded monitors to identify the point of acute deterioration (e.g. 9-1-1 call). This is collaborative work with the University of Pittsburgh Department of Surgery.
