On June 15, Richard Orr finished up his final call in the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU), and will transition to the sedation service line full-time at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC.
Ricardo Muñoz, a colleague of Orr since 2002, says that when they started the CICU at Children’s, “We were the only 2 attendings and we divided the schedule equally. I have no words to describe his dedication and outstanding clinical work. Without his commitment the unit would not have become the service it is today.” Muñoz added that Orr was “instrumental in developing our outstanding transport service. His dedication to teaching fellows and nurses has been well-recognized; he will be greatly missed and his fingerprints will remain in our unit forever.”
Orr, MD, FCCM, is a Professor of Critical Care Medicine and Pediatrics, and completed a Pediatric CCM Fellowship at Pitt in 1981.
