Kimberlee Barnhart, MEd, and Jamie Murphy, BA, were both recently awarded scholarships from UPMC’s Graduate Medical Education Office to attend the 2016 Association for Hospital Medical Education Pittsburgh Academy.

The conference, which took place on September 23 at The University Club, provided Barnhart, Director of the Office of Education, and Murphy, GME Senior Department Manager of the Pediatric Fellowship Programs, with the opportunity to network with other program administrators, and to strengthen their knowledge of graduate medical education.

The program included talks from deans, directors, and administrators of graduate medical education programs from several universities and teaching hospitals including Stony Brook University Hospital, the University at Buffalo, the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, and the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. The talks covered multiple topics including: strengthening program organization, using data management software to improve program compliance with institutional standards, preventing burnout, and building strategic alliances in order to solve institutional problems.
