Janeen LaForce Hired as CRISMA Center Operations Manager

Mon, 10/13/2014

CCM is pleased to announce our new Operations Manager, Janeen LaForce. Janeen comes to CRISMA from the School of Nursing, where she worked for seven and a half years in administrative operations and research compliance. For the past two years, Janeen was the department coordinator of the Health & Community Systems Department, where she provided oversight of daily operations, including academic support, fiscal administration, human resources and payroll management, regulatory compliance, and facility management. Her team provided administrative support not only to department leadership, but also to 31 faculty with research, academic, and clinical appointments, as well as to 5 postdocs.

Janeen says that she “looks forward to discovering ways to improve efficiency and continue to build a strong foundation for CRISMA Center operations.”

Before being in the Health & Community Systems Department of the School of Nursing, Janeen was the Research Administrator for the Center for Research and Evaluation, which provided services analogous to the CRISMA DMT Core. Janeen also has experience in fields outside of medicine, including serving as the Assistant to the VP of Operations at the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, and the inaugural Program Coordinator for the then-fledgling Entertainment Technology Center at CMU. She earned an MA in Cinema Studies from NYU, and a BA in Communication Studies with a minor in Soviet Studies from California University of PA. A self-described “environmental sciences nerd” in high school, she was captain of both the JV and Varsity ECO-Teams, president of the Science Club, Certified Ranger (aka Wildlife & Environmental Awareness Educator) at a Lou Henry Hoover Memorial Nature Sanctuary, and recipient of the Bausch + Lomb Honorary Science Award.

Janeen lives in the Morningside neighborhood of Pittsburgh with her husband, a Doberman, and two cats, “in an old house on a corner lot where I can usually be found gardening, birding, or working with wood in my basement lair.”

Welcome, Janeen!
