The Department of Critical Care Medicine will have a significant presence at the UPMC Leadership Conference held on Friday, February 19, at UPMC Shadyside. Faculty and fellows are directing workshops, presenting oral abstracts, and giving one poster presentation.
CCM faculty will direct the two interactive workshops during the conference. Jason Moore will direct “Tips for Teaching in a Busy Clinical Environment,” along with Stephen Jackman and Jackie Weaver-Agostoni, Program Directors of the Urology and Family Medicine Residency programs, respectively. Later, Lillian Emlet will lead “A Taste of Wellness for GME,” along with James Dewar, Executive Vice Chair, UPMC Department of Family Medicine, and Lisa Podgurski, Medical Director of the Magee Palliative Care Service.
Two oral abstracts are also being presented during the conference. CCM Chief Fellow Tim Baptist is presenting, "Can a program specific smartphone application be useful to fellows in a critical care training program?" Murat Kaynar will present on "Sentiment Mining of Letters of Recommendations for Residency Applications," an exploration of the “unwritten” messages in these letters and the possibility of a standardized approach in the evaluation process.
Finally, Erin Johnson, Pediatric CCM Fellow, will give a poster presentation, "Evaluation of a Simulation-Based Communication Course for Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Fellows.”
