The Department of Critical Care Medicine would like to announce that the 5th annual CCCN-AKI Symposium, hosted by the Center for Critical Care Nephrology, the Pittsburgh Center for Kidney Research, the Starzl Transplantation Institute, and Children’s Hospital Pediatric Nephrology Division, will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2015, from 7:30am-4:30pm. The Symposium will be held in the Thomas E. Starzl Biomedical Science Tower S120.
The 5th Annual CCCN-AKI Symposium will aim to continue a cross-campus dialogue on acute kidney injury to identify areas of interest, collaboration and preliminary data in preparation for grant application. The event will include 18 University of Pittsburgh researchers presenting on his/her current cutting edge AKI related projects. The Symposium will feature special guest lecturer, Mark P. de Caestecker, MD, PhD, an assistant professor of medicine at Vanderbilt University, who specializes in kidney regeneration and therapy, kidney development, pulmonary vasculature, and genetics. Claudio Ronco, MD, Director of the Department of Nephrology at St. Bortolo Hospital in Vicenza, Italy, as well as Rick Schnellmann, PhD, Professor at the Medical University of South Carolina Department of Pharmacy, will be lunch time keynote speakers.
