7th Annual AKI Symposium

The 7th Annual Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) Symposium will aim to continue a cross-campus dialogue on acute kidney injury to identify areas of interest, collaboration and preliminary data in preparation for grant application.

The event will include University of Pittsburgh researchers presenting cutting edge AKI research.

The Symposium will feature Andrew Shaw, MBBS; Executive Medical Director for Perioperative Services, and Executive Vice Chair, Anesthesiology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, as well as Benjamin D. Humphreys, MD, PhD, Associate Professor and Chief, Division of Nephrology, Division of Renal Diseases from Washington University School of Medicine, as keynote speakers.

University of Pittsburgh post docs, residents and fellows will also present work related to their AKI research. Financial prizes will be awarded for the top 3 best presentations.

Emergency Neurological Life Support (ENLS) Certification

WHAT IS IT?  An Emergency Neurological Life Support (ENLS) Certification Course.  Certification in ENLS helps meet one of the criteria primary and comprehensive stroke centers Improves knowledge base in managing acute neurological emergencies.

WHEN IS IT?  This course is being offered on three dates (same course each time):

  • Friday, May 19 at UPMC Hamot from 8am - 4:30pm
  • Tuesday, August 29 at UPMC Mercy from 8am - 4:30pm
  • Tuesday, September 26 at UPMC Passavant from 8am - 4:30pm

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?  Anyone in critical care, or interested in critical care - EMS, ICU & ED nurses, APPs, medical students, residents from EM, neuro, neurosurgery, IM, anesthesia, surgery, critical care fellows & faculty - adult, peds, pulmonary.  Must have a minimum of 25 people enrolled per session.
